Medication Administration & Delegation – Part 2
In-Person Skills Training for Licensed Child Care Providers in Colorado
This course is specifically designed for licensed child care programs in Colorado and fully meets the 2023 guidelinesset by Colorado Shines and the Colorado Department of Early Childhood (CDEC).
It consists of two parts:
Part 1: Online – Colorado Shines PDIS Course
Complete the online training through the Colorado Shines PDIS system. This covers essential medication safety practices, regulations, and procedures.
Part 2: In-Person – Hands-On Skills Session
After finishing the online portion, join us in person for a nurse-supervised session where you’ll demonstrate the hands-on skills required for formal delegation.
What You’ll Learn in Part 2:
Safe storage and documentation of medications
Administration of oral, topical, inhaled, and emergency medications (e.g., EpiPens, inhalers)
Responding to medication errors and adverse reactions
Following individual health care plans and delegation rules
Certification & Delegation Details:
Taught and assessed by a licensed nurse
Required for anyone administering medication in licensed child care settings
Fulfills Colorado Shines and CDEC requirements
Participants receive a standardized certificate issued by CDEC, valid for 1 year
